Welcome!
~from
the Wabash Avenue Church Family~
We, the congregation of Wabash Avenue
Presbyterian Church, welcome your visit to our website. We hope this
helps you become more fully acquainted with our congregation and our
ministry of sharing the love of God in Jesus Christ.
If you do not have a church home, we
invite you to worship with and join our membership in serving God. We
strongly encourage all persons of faith to make a commitment to a church
to strengthen their discipleship to Jesus Christ. We accept members by
baptism, profession of faith, and letter of transfer.
We are a warm congregation with a great
ministry, and we invite you to minister with us! To learn more, please
contact us to visit with our pastor. Please worship with us this Sunday
and discover with us the continuing, amazing grace of our good and
generous God!
Who We Are
We belong to a denomination known as the Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.). The word presbyter meaning "elder" describes our
form of church government. Our beliefs are sometimes called "Reformed,"
which means that we hold them in common with other churches of the
Protestant Reformation, but we believe that we are part of the holy
catholic (universal) church which is made up of all who believe in Jesus
Christ.
What We Believe
We believe in the love of God in Jesus Christ and we confess that Jesus
Christ is our Lord and Savior. We believe that as we confess our sins and
entrust ourselves to Jesus' forgiveness and redemption extended to us
through his death on the cross and resurrection to new life that we are
saved by grace through faith. In gratitude for God's mercy by which we are
saved, we seek to serve Christ by loving God and loving our neighbor. We
believe that giving our life to Christ is the best way to live a holy,
happy, and fulfilled life.
What We Do
"We, the people of Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, are a community
of believers, nourished by the Word, striving to know and live the will of
God. We are dedicated to worshipping together, interpreting the Word,
deepening our faith, extending Christian concern to those in need
throughout our community and the world, and bringing others to belief in
Jesus Christ. (WAPC Mission Statement)." |
